BEGINNER RUNNING CLASS
(final class of the year)
LMJS offers a beginner running class to help individuals prepare for and run comfortably in a 5K (3.1 miles) event. This program is designed for individuals new to running or those looking to improve their endurance in the 3-5 mile distance.
The in-person training sessions start on Sunday, Oct. 19. We will meet in person on five consecutive Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the picturesque Lake Merritt in Oakland. The program's goal race is the fully supported, timed LMJS Fourth Sunday Races on Sunday, Nov. 23 (must register separately).
Group meetings are supportive, fun, and engaging. They cover essential topics such as form, safety, injury awareness, and practicing basic running skills. This five-week training includes a hands-on Sunday meet-up, a customized training plan, and a wealth of online documents and resources to keep you engaged and motivated.
This training is best suited for individuals who want to train for a 5K run and those who wish to restart their running regimen. Advance registration is required for this program, with a minimum enrollment of 20 participants to get the most fun, benefits, and camaraderie.
The cost is $30 for club members and $40 for non-members. To save money, join a great club before registering. You'll also receive discounts on future training and programs and stay connected to a diverse, welcoming, and fun running club.
Feel free to contact Coach Ed Cruz at vitocruz@aol.com with any questions or to request a fee-assistance registration code. Coach Ed is a certified running coach under the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Assisting is Coach Laureli Mallek, certified RRCA Running Coach.
LMJS is a non-profit running club with over 48 years of connections in the Bay Area. It is a 100% volunteer organization that supports many local adult and youth running programs by sharing their knowledge, donations, and love of running.
