LMJS Training Program for the 2017 Oakland Running Festival

Join the official East Bay training program for the 2017 Oakland Running Festival!

Train for your spring marathon or half marathon with LMJS!

Marathon Training Program: 18-week program; first group run is Saturday, December 3 at 8:00 am

Half Marathon Training Program: 12-week program; first group run is January 14, 2017 at 8:00 am. Half marathon trainees are encouraged to join Saturday runs beginning in December.

We are proud to announce our partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank. A portion of proceeds from the training program will be donated to the Food Bank.

The fine print: Note that this is not a "couch to finish line" program.  We do expect our trainees to be running when the programs start. 
  • Marathon trainees should be running at least 15- 20 miles per week for a month before the program starts.
  • Half marathon trainees should be running at least 12 miles per week before mid-January.
  • Both programs start with runs of at least 6 miles for the first long run. Half marathon trainees are encouraged to start with the marathon trainees in December to build their training base.
