Bring the kids to the Fourth Sunday races, as we begin our third year of a new LMJS tradition, races especially designed for kids. These races will take place every month during 2008, except for February, when the Couples Relay race takes precedent. The races are free, no registration either, and the location is the parking lot of the Sailboat House (568 Bellevue Ave.). This year we are expanding our races for youngsters by adding a "Youth Race" category and the distance is about 1/2 mile. First starting at 8:40 a.m. will be the Kids Race. The Kids Race is intended for the younger kids, toddlers to first graders as the distance is just 100 yards or so and takes place in the parking lot. Volunteers will supervise the race so that parents and spectators can cheer the kids on.
Then at 8:50 a.m. will be the Youth Race.
The Youth Race is for older kids, ages 9 to 12, and will take place on the street, Bellevue, and will be about 1/2 mile.
There will be medals for all the finishers, and refreshments, water and energy bars. So bring the kids to the Fourth Sunday races and have them run too!
