Volunteer Recognition Banquet

Annually, the club has honored members for their service in volunteering their time and effort with a recognition dinner at a local restaurant. As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on members and friends of the club to staff our activities - from volunteering at races to serving on the Board of Directors. To show our appreciation and publicly honor our 2007 volunteers, a gala recognition banquet was held on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at the Speisekammer restaurant in Alameda. At this event, 62 club members, one of our largest recognition dinners, were feted for their contributions. They enjoyed German cuisine with a California twist and received an LMJS logo-ed gift item. Take a look at photos from the event. The members honored were as follows:

If you would like to qualify for the 2008 volunteer recognition event, its easy. Here are some of the things you can do as a volunteer to get invited:
  • Volunteer as a race helper four times during the year at an LMJS race
  • Serve as a Race Director at either two races or race direct one race plus volunteer as a helper at two other races during the year.
  • Member of the Board of Directors (no experience necessary).
  • Special nomination by a member of the Board.

That's all there is to it. At a minimum, four hours or so of your time will qualify you for this special event. If you have questions or want more information, please contact a member of the Board. You can also volunteer on-line.
